Google Reviews – What are the Pros & Cons?
If you’re looking at creating a Google Reviews page for your business, we’ll discuss the pros and cons of doing so.
Starting with the Pros, we’ll look at how customers are searching for reputable businesses online and how it helps local shops that rely on foot traffic.
#1 Pro – Customers Are Looking For Reviews
One of the first methods a customer will use to judge your business is by searching for online reviews of your business. If your business has 0 reviews online, it doesn’t bode well for your business. Especially if you’re competition has easy to find reviews and as well as positive reviews.
#2 Pro – Improve Trust & Confidence
A collection of 4-5 star reviews on Google can really give a potential customer an idea of what it’s going to be like dealing with your business. Thus improving their overall trust and confidence that they’ll enjoy the same experience compared to others.
#1 Con – Negative Reviews
Obviously, negative reviews is the major danger of creating a Google reviews page as customers can easily slander your business online, leaving an owner without much control of the situation.
However, Google does offer a flagging feature where owners can try and remove irrelevant negative reviews, such as someone that has never dealt with the business and has left a negative review for no reason.
In the end, it does make a business strive harder to provide a good service that won’t give any customer a reason to leave a bad review. Sometimes you can’t please everyone and that’s just the nature of the wider public at the moment.
#2 Con – No Reviews = A Red Flag?
Another negative of not having a Google Reviews business profile is the fact that if customers can’t find any reviews about your business, they won’t feel comfortable engaging with a seemingly dormant business.
